Prices and percentages from the NSE movers feed, both sides stamped 03 November 2026, 16:00. Only ten Nifty 50 constituents fell, so the losers list is the whole of the declining side. Market-wide breadth is not published: upstox reported 2,127 advances to 1,477 declines on the NSE from 3,713 traded, while hdfcsky reported 2,362 to 1,862 with 156 unchanged on the BSE — different universes with no like-for-like second source, so neither count is stated as fact, though both agree the tape was broadly positive.

Corporate & macro desk

What moved the tape and what the IR desks were announcing

  • FMCG drove the broadest leg of a four-session rally — Nifty FMCG rose 3.65% to 45,580.00, the best sectoral by a wide margin, with Nestle India, Tata Consumer Products, Hindustan Unilever and ITC all among the Nifty 50's risers. Fourteen of the sixteen sectoral indices closed higher.
  • Crude extended its retreat for a third session — Brent's January contract settled at $103.60, down $1.17 or 1.12%, and WTI's December contract at $96.09, as a further round of US–Iran diplomacy eased supply risk. Reports of US strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island pared the fall late in the day. Nifty Oil & Gas still added 0.85%.
  • SBI's profit rose and the stock still fell — State Bank of India reported a 14.28% increase in standalone September-quarter net profit, per the session's closing wraps. The stock ended 1.70% lower at 970.25, the second-worst Nifty 50 performer, and Nifty PSU Bank was the only sectoral to fall more than a fraction, down 1.27%.
  • FIIs bought for a third consecutive session — Foreign institutional investors were net buyers of ₹6,836.81 crore in the cash segment, more than double Monday's ₹3,114.68 crore, while domestic institutions sold ₹3,678.85 crore. That inverts the shape of the previous two sessions, in which DII selling was comparatively light.
  • Marico led the midcaps after results — Marico rose about 10% in the Nifty Midcap 100 following its September-quarter earnings, while KEC International fell 9.64% and was the worst Nifty Smallcap 100 performer. The broad market lagged the benchmarks: Smallcap 100 added 0.31% and Microcap 250 0.26% against the Nifty 50's 1.58%.
  • The rupee firmed and Wall Street closed mixed — The rupee settled 16 paise stronger at 94.74 to the dollar, from 94.90. After the Indian close, and on US midterm election day, the Dow fell 0.38% to 51,786.72 while the S&P 500 added 0.36% and the Nasdaq Composite 0.83%.
  • A heavy results and ex-date week begins — Asian Paints, among the session's five best Nifty 50 performers, goes ex-dividend ₹5.75 on 04 November, alongside Coal India at ₹10.25 and a 1:1 bonus at Concord Biotech. Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, LIC, ONGC, Britannia, Titan and Samvardhana Motherson all meet on 05 November.

A blank cell means not sourced to a figure dated to this session, not zero. GMP is an unofficial, unregulated grey-market quote and should not be read as a forecast of the listing price. The whole GMP column is taken from one source and the whole subscription column from another, and neither is blended: InvestorGain carried a dated 03 November GMP row for HGS (India) and Vedant Poly Fabs only, while IPO Ji recorded no GMP quote for Johnsoncab Electricals, Vectras Enprocon or Vedant Poly Fabs. For reference and not published above, IPO Ji quoted Maxwell Engineering Solutions at ₹74 after the close, and two morning-stamped trackers put HGS (India) at ₹30 and ₹22 before the session opened — figures about the morning, not the session. HGS (India)'s subscription is left blank because reported final books ranged from about 219x to 249x across trackers with no two agreeing exactly and none carrying a post-close stamp alongside the others. These are SME issues: the lot shown is the base lot, and minimum applications run to two lots. Four of the five closed on the session date; Vedant Poly Fabs closes 04 November.

Bullion are indicative Indian retail reference rates from goodreturns' dated series, which vary by city and exclude GST and other levies; silver moves in coarse steps there and had no dated second source, so its unchanged reading is indicative. Crude settlements name their contract month. The US index cards are the 03 November Wall Street close, which happened after the Indian session ended.

What we are watching next session

  • Asian Paints goes ex-dividend ₹5.75 on 04 November after closing among the session's five best Nifty 50 performers at 2,437.80. Wednesday's screen price therefore carries a mechanical adjustment of roughly 0.24% that is not a market move — the two should not be read together.
  • Coal India (₹10.25) and Concord Biotech's 1:1 bonus also go ex on 04 November; Power Grid, the session's worst Nifty 50 performer at −3.04%, goes ex-dividend ₹3 on 06 November, and National Aluminium, down 3.19% among the midcaps, ₹4.50 on the same day.
  • 05 November is the heaviest results day left in the season — Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Life Insurance Corporation of India, ONGC, Britannia, Titan and Samvardhana Motherson are all scheduled, with ONGC and Titan carrying dividend and fund-raising items alongside the numbers.
  • Bosch's 06 November board meeting lists a bonus issue and a stock split as business separate from its results — a disclosure sequence worth watching, since the two carry different record-date mechanics.
  • Four of the five SME issues open during the session closed on 03 November, with allotment on 04 November and listings on 06 November. Vedant Poly Fabs is the only one still taking bids and closes 04 November, with its day-two book at 0.93x.
