The two do not agree, so neither count is published as fact. Both wraps agree the tape was broadly positive. India VIX is taken from NSE's own internally consistent last/variation/previous-close trio.

Corporate & macro desk
What moved the tape and what the IR desks were announcing
- Reliance's record quarter drove the whole index — Reliance Industries rose 11.60% to Rs 1,300 — its strongest single session since April 2020 — after declaring Q2 FY27 consolidated net profit of Rs 25,548 crore, up 40.64% year on year, on revenue of Rs 3,32,861 crore, up 28.57%. The numbers were declared after Friday's close, so Monday was the market's first chance to price them. Jio Platforms reported revenue of Rs 47,485 crore, up 11.3%, and EBITDA of Rs 21,879 crore, up 16.6%, with operating margin 250 basis points better.
- Crude's six-month high unwound in a single session — Brent's January contract settled at $106.45, down $6.98 or 6.15%, and WTI at $97.41, down 6.44%, as a third consecutive day of Iranian and Qatari talks raised hopes of an end to the US-Israeli war on Iran. Brent had settled at a six-month high on Friday. Nifty Oil & Gas gained 5.95%, the best sectoral move of the session.
- October GST collections near a record — Gross GST collections for October came in at Rs 2.31 lakh crore, up 22.9% year on year, on festive consumption — among the strongest monthly prints on record.
- FIIs bought for a second session running — Foreign institutions were net buyers of Rs 3,114.68 crore in the cash segment while domestic institutions sold Rs 392.20 crore — the same shape as Friday, when FIIs bought Rs 3,598.54 crore against DII selling of Rs 817.51 crore.
- Metals and commodities ran with the reflation trade — Nifty Metal added 3.21%, with Tata Steel up 5.83% and JSW Steel 5.13%. Cement rose 2.92% and consumer durables 2.70%. Eleven of sixteen sectoral indices closed higher.
- IT was the session's only significant drag — Nifty IT fell 0.50% and Infosys was the worst Nifty 50 performer at -2.03%. Infosys goes ex-dividend on 03 November for an interim dividend of Rs 26 a share, so Tuesday's screen price will carry a further mechanical adjustment of roughly 2% that is not a market move.
- Wall Street fell after the Indian close — The Nasdaq composite lost 1.07% and the S&P 500 0.51% on continuing concern over AI capital spending, while the Dow rose 0.41%. The divergence left Indian large caps looking relatively bid against a softer global technology tape.

Grey-market premium is an unofficial, unregulated indication quoted by private dealers. It is not an exchange-traded price, carries no settlement guarantee and should not be read as a forecast of the listing price. GMP for both rows is taken whole from InvestorGain's per-issue day-wise history, dated 02 November, with the percentage recomputed against each upper band; subscription for Bombay Coated is InvestorGain's final figure of 63.89x, independently matched by HDFC Sky — note that ipoguru's tracker reported a lower final book of 60.77x at 5:10 PM, so the category split behind that figure is not published here. Bombay Coated's issue size is shown as the Rs 183.06 crore stated by IPO Watch: NSE's own issueSize field returned 1,65,33,012 shares, which reconciles with neither the roughly 2.23 crore-share total nor that total net of the 65,97,500-share anchor book, so the share count is not published. A blank cell means not sourced, not zero. M.K.Sons Fine Jewels and SFC Environmental had already closed; Vedant Poly Fabs, which opened on the session date, closes on 04 November.

Commodities, currency & global
US index cards show the 02 November Wall Street close, the same calendar session as the Indian market covered here; it ended after the Indian close. Brent is the January 2027 contract — December expired on 30 October at $117.64 while January settled $113.43, so the change shown is measured against the January contract and not against Friday's headline Brent figure. Bullion quotes are retail reference rates for India from goodreturns, which vary by city and exclude GST and other levies; the silver series moves in round Rs 5,000 steps and no second aggregator carried a dated 02 November row, so that card is indicative. A lower USD-INR number means a stronger rupee.
What we are watching next session
- Infosys goes ex-dividend on 03 November for Rs 26 a share. The screen price will drop by roughly 2% at the open for mechanical reasons; IR desks should be ready for shareholder queries that read as a fall but are nothing of the kind.
- 05 November is the heaviest results day left in the season — Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, LIC, ONGC, Britannia, Titan and Samvardhana Motherson all report on the same day, which will compress analyst attention and media coverage for everyone reporting that morning.
- Whether the crude relief holds. Brent's January contract gave up 6.15% on reports of Iran-Qatar talks; the read-across to oil marketing, paints, aviation and tyres reverses just as quickly if the talks stall.
- Titan's board takes up fund raising alongside its results on 05 November, and Bosch's considers a bonus issue and a stock split on 06 November — both are disclosure events that need the announcement and the explanation ready at the same time.
- Whether foreign institutions stay buyers. Two consecutive sessions of FII purchases against DII selling reverses the pattern that ran through October, when FPIs sold Rs 45,162 crore.
