Market Pulse — 29 September 2026

A second straight decline, but a shallow one at the index level and a much deeper one beneath it: the Nifty 50 shed 0.28% to 22,716.20 and the Sensex 0.33% to 72,529.07 on F&O expiry-day volatility, while decliners beat advancers 2,038 to 1,529 and consumer durables, chemicals and realty each fell around 2% or more. FIIs sold a net Rs 9,980 crore in the cash segment, the heaviest single-session outflow this month, and DIIs absorbed Rs 6,953 crore of it.

Grey market premium is an unofficial, unregulated indicator of sentiment in an off-market trade. It is not a forecast of the listing price, it is not published or endorsed by the exchanges or SEBI, and it can move sharply within a single day. A blank cell means the figure could not be sourced for the session, not that it is zero — GMP is shown only for the two issues the timestamped tracker still listed as open at 8:00 PM, and lot size, basis-of-allotment and listing dates were not obtainable from any source reached. Subscription multiples are an 11:57 AM snapshot and are therefore not final for the four issues that closed on 29 September. SME issues carry no row this edition because the NSE SME upcoming-issues feed returned no data, so official terms could not be confirmed; ipoji.com listed Green Asia Impex and Papadmalji Agro Foods on the NSE SME platform and Acme Universal Safezone 9, Pind Hospitality, Shivchem Agro, Black Opal Consultants, Vans Electroengineerings, EverestIMS Technologies and Shree TNB Polymers on BSE SME as open during the session. Vishal Nirmiti Limited (mainboard) and Eventions Limited (SME) open on 30 September.

Indian bullion quotes are retail reference rates and vary materially by city and by aggregator — 24K per 10g came back between Rs 1,47,570 and Rs 1,50,160 across three sources for the same day, so the mid-cluster figure is carried and no day-on-day change is shown. Brent is quoted at the Indian close; it eased through US hours after touching about USD 108 intraday, and wire reports put it between USD 100 and USD 103 by the US settlement. The Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq are the 29 September US close, which fell at about 2:00 AM IST on 30 September — the same session the Indian market was reacting to.

What we are watching next session

  • The RBI's Monetary Policy Committee meets 05–07 October, with the domestic 10-year having touched 7.19% during the session and the US 10-year at a 24-year high.
  • Shah Investor's Home and Srit India have their final bidding day on 30 September; Vishal Nirmiti opens on the mainboard and Eventions on the SME platform the same day.
  • Crude and the rupee: Brent swung between roughly USD 100 and USD 108 around the session, and the rupee closed at 95.98 after the RBI capped the intraday fall at 96.15.
  • TCS opens the Q2 reporting season on 08 October, with HCL Technologies on 12 October and the three large private banks all on 17 October.
  • FII cash selling of Rs 9,980 crore was the heaviest single session of the month; whether domestic institutions keep absorbing it at September's pace is the number to watch first.
