Corporate & macro desk

What moved the tape and what the IR desks were announcing

  • Crude's round trip set the session — Brent briefly crossed $109 a barrel on escalating Middle East tension before easing back, trading at $104.10 and down 3.28% by the Indian close. The Sensex fell as far as 74,160.16 and the Nifty 50 to 23,231.40 in early trade, then recovered more than 600 Sensex points as oil came off. The rupee closed at 95.54, two paise weaker, after paring most of its intraday loss on suspected RBI dollar sales.
  • HDFC Bank wins a seventh AT1 judgment — A Bahrain court rejected two further investor claims against the bank relating to Credit Suisse AT1 bonds, taking the number of favourable judgments to seven. The stock rose 2.08% to ₹708.25 and was the heaviest single positive contributor to the Nifty.
  • SBI-led consortium to lend Vodafone Idea about $3.5 billion — A consortium led by State Bank of India agreed to provide roughly $3.5 billion of debt financing to support the telecom operator's recovery plan — the largest single financing commitment in the sector this year.
  • Premier Energies signs 12 GWh battery term sheet — Premier Energies signed a binding term sheet with Germany's RCT Group to set up a 12 GWh battery storage manufacturing facility in Telangana. Separately, Juniper Green Energy commissioned 35 MW of wind capacity, taking its hybrid project to 175 MWp of a planned 190 MWp, and Texmaco Rail won a ₹27.82 crore order from Hindalco.
  • Foreign selling doubles; domestic buying the heaviest of the week — FIIs were net sellers of ₹930.90 crore (bought ₹12,616.89 crore, sold ₹13,547.79 crore) against ₹438.24 crore on 10 September, while DIIs bought a net ₹1,968.17 crore (bought ₹15,109.58 crore, sold ₹13,141.41 crore) — the largest domestic net purchase of the week.
  • Realty falls for a sixth session; breadth stays negative — Nifty Realty lost 2.70%, its sixth consecutive decline, with Godrej Properties off 6.62%, Lodha Developers 4.59% and Aditya Birla Real Estate 4.17%. The BSE counted 2,018 advances against 2,470 declines with 241 unchanged.
  • Wall Street rallies into the weekend — The Dow closed at 52,573.29 (+0.98%), the S&P 500 at 7,656.98 (+0.86%) and the Nasdaq at 26,333.04 (+0.96%) on 11 September, after moderate US inflation data and easing crude clawed back much of the week's loss. WTI settled at $100.13, down 2.29%.
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank loses its commercial banking head — Manish Kothari, Group President and Head of Commercial Banking, resigned with effect from 30 September 2026. Separately, IRDAI imposed a ₹1 crore penalty on Canara HSBC Life Insurance over policyholder-interest provisions, and Neogen Chemicals launched a qualified institutional placement at a floor price of ₹2,189.73 per share.

Grey-market premium is an unofficial, unregulated indication traded outside the exchange mechanism. It carries no exchange or regulatory sanction, moves continuously through the bidding window, and is shown here as market colour only — not as a guide to listing price. The GMP column is a single timestamped source (ipoji.com, 13 Sep 2026, 7:00 PM IST) rather than a blend: other trackers carried materially different figures for the same issues at the same time, which is itself the point about how firm these numbers are. NSE's official issue feed could not be reached on this run, so issue size, lot size, basis-of-allotment dates and anchor-book status are not carried, and a blank cell means not sourced, not zero. Amtech Esters, Infrax Renewable, Vinod Texworld, Om Galaxy and Panchatv Bharat had no GMP in that snapshot, and the source did not separate NSE EMERGE from BSE SME for the issues marked simply SME. Nine of the fifteen closed for subscription on 11 September and list on 17 September; Manika Plastech's listing date was not sourced. Coming up: Hero Motors, Jindal Supreme (India) and SS Retail on 16–18 September, and the National Stock Exchange of India's own issue at ₹1,700–1,785 on 17–21 September.

What we are watching next session

  • Tuesday 15 September is the first tradeable session of the week. The exchanges are shut on Monday for Ganesh Chaturthi, the same day CPI and WPI print, so two inflation releases and a three-day gap arrive at the market together.
  • Nine of the fifteen open books closed on 11 September and list on 17 September — the same morning the National Stock Exchange's own issue opens. Allotment outcomes and those debuts are the cleanest read on primary-market depth before it.
  • Whether foreign selling keeps accelerating. FIIs went from a net ₹438.24 crore of sales on 10 September to ₹930.90 crore, while DII buying rose to ₹1,968.17 crore — the widest gap of the week.
  • Crude's round trip. Brent was above $109 intraday and below $105 at the Indian close; the direction of that number has set the tape for six sessions and feeds straight into the rupee at 95.54 and the inflation arithmetic.
  • Whether breadth improves. Realty has now fallen for six consecutive sessions and the BSE has recorded more declines than advances on every day of the week, even where the benchmarks closed higher.
